Alorica Call Center in El Paso Hiring 400 People for Health Insurance Client
An El Paso call center plans to hire 400 people by September to handle calls for a new customer.
California-based Alorica’s East El Paso call center needs more employees to handle calls for a large health insurance company, said Jesus Sandoval, senior site director for the call center at 1440 Goodyear Drive.
It also needs more call takers to handle its current clients in the entertainment, technology, back-office, and account management industries, he said.
The jobs’ starting pay ranges from $8.75 to $14.50 per hour, depending on the applicant’s experience, he said.
Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have a high school diploma, or diploma equivalent.
Alorica’s East Side call center currently employs about 1,600 people, Sandoval said. It’s Alorica’s largest call center in North America, a company official said.
Its West El Paso call center at 1015 Belvidere St., employs about 500 people.
Alorica, headquartered in Irvine, California, employs about 100,000 people at 130 locations in 14 countries.
Sandoval, 38, who grew up in Chaparral, New Mexico, on the edge of Northeast El Paso, started as a call taker at Alorica’s West Side center in 2000. He’s worked at several Alorica centers, including in Latin America and in San Antonio. He recently moved back to El Paso after being promoted to senior site director at the East Side center.
“People think call centers have low-paying jobs and no opportunities for advancement. That’s not necessarily the case,” Sandoval said. “Alorica promotes within the company.”
Applicants can apply for the new jobs at Alorica’s East Side call center beginning at 8 a.m., and until 5 p.m., on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and until 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; and Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Applications also can be done online at alorica.com.
